Jerome served as a Second Lieutenant & Navigator on B-17F "Little Caesar" (#42-30370), 338th Bomber Squadron, 96th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania prior to the war.

Jerome was declared "Missing In Action" when his B-17 was involved in a mid air coll with B-17 (#42-5908) and crashed into the North Sea during the war.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
