Pvt John Francis Flaherty was the youngest son of Morgan Flaherty (Kings County Ireland) and Mary Spellane Flaherty (County Tipperary Ireland).
John was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
John served in the US Army Air Force 2122nd Engineer Fire Fighting Platoon, Aviation.
He is on the WWII Honor Roll. John was stationed as at Deopham Green Airfield, as a fire fighter. A badly damaged B-17 returning from a mission, crashed into his fire truck at Deopham Green, a wartime airfield near Attleborough in Norolk.
John died the following day from his injuries, May 9, 1944, at the young age of 19.
