Hubert was a Technical Sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Forces 527th Bomber Squadron, 379th Bomber Group, Heavy. He was killed when B-17F Flying Fortress #42-29747, nicknamed "Rikki-Tikki-Tawi-II" collided mid-air with B-17G #42-31441 while entering formation for an raid on Germany, and crashed at Chatsworth, England. All ten crew lost.
