S/Sgt Belvin J. Peters attended high school for 4 years and was an architect. He volunteered for the Air Corps of the Army of the United States at Camp Forrest, Tennessee on 24 April 1942.

He was the engineer on B-17 "Local Girl," to bomb the port of Emden, Germany.

The airplane was attacked by a ME 109 shortly after bombs away. N° 3 engine caught fire and flames also seemed to come from from and fuselage. It crashed at 10:30 at Geefsweer Village, South of Delfzijl.

Four crew members were killed, six were taken prisoner.
