George Westley Forbes was born on August 11, 1919 in Detroit, Michigan. He was the son of William Thomas Forbes and Louise Birnbaum. Sadly, his mother Louise passed away in December of 1928, when George was only 9 years old. Thereafter, George and his older half-brother Charles DeVos were raised by their aunt and uncle Minnie (Birnbaum) and Carl Wulff in Detroit. Unfortunately George's aunt Minnie Birnbaum Wulff also passed away in April of 1938, when George was only 18 years old.
On April 26, 1941 George married his girlfriend Hazel Smith. There were no children from their marriage.
