Ralph, known as "Red", entered the army on July 14, 1941. He served with the infantry. Prior to joining the army, Ralph worked as a printer at H.C. Rowe and intended to pursue that as a career. He was a 1937 graduate of Scotland (PA) School for Veterans' Children where he was a merit student. In school, Ralph played the clarinet in the band, was a member of the chorus and was the captain of the senior intra-mural basketball champions. He was also on the school's j.v. basketball and football teams and was the assistant manager for the track team.
Ralph was a Private, 28th Inf. 8th Infantry Division. He was in domestic service from 14 July 1941 until 5 December 1943. He was killed in action in France.
