Is Dead

Death of Former Mayor Follows That
Of Wife by 19 Days

Charles G. Ingraham, 74, three
time mayor of Hastings and
a resident of this city for more than
40 years, died at 12:45 o'clock
this noon at the Mary Lanning
Memorial Hospital, just 19 days
after the death of his wife on
December 3.
Mr. Ingraham's health had been
failing for some time and four
days after the death of Mrs. In-
graham he entered the Mary
Lanning Memorial Hospital.
He and Mrs. Ingraham came to
Hastings from Kansas following
their marriage there in 1900, con-
tinue to make their home here
since. For a number of years,
Ingraham worked for the Dutton
and Company harness factory,
serving as foreman of the collar
department.
Ingraham was first elected
mayor in 1913. He was elected
twice more to the same office at
intervals of 10 years, in 1923 and
in 1933. It was during this last
term that considerable improve-
ment and expansion was under-
taken at the water and light
plant.
His last candidacy was in the
spring of 1935 when he was de-
feated by William Harm.
Mr. Ingraham also served at
one time as a revenue collector
on truck transportation crossing
the Nebraske-Kansas border.
