LOSE SECOND SON
Mr. and Mrs. H.A. Arends of North E Street, Tulare, have been notified their son, Private Harold (Lou) Arends, was killed in action in Italy November 2nd.
It was the second time such news has been received by the Arends family.
Another son, William Arends, an RAF flier, was killed in action over occupied France, June 20, 1942.
Arends attended the Tulare schools and was graduated from the Tulare Union High School in 1943. He was active in sports and was an outstanding baseball pitcher.
His brother, William, was a member of the famed Four Horsemen, who enlisted in England before the United States entered the war.
