Emmett C. Carter, born 1922 in Marion, Alabama, second child of six children born to Marvin and Anna Burleson Carter. Marvin enlisted on 20 Nov. 1942 at Fort Mcclellan, Calhoun, Alabama when he was 20 years old and was sent overseas. Emmett died on the 16 of October 1944, age 22, in Florence, Italy and recieved the Purple Heart Medal, post humanously.
