Paul served as a Technical Sergeant & Top Turret Gunner on B-17F #42-30398, 429th Bomber Squadron, 2nd Bomber Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Kay County, Oklahoma prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on May 14, 1942 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in the production of petroleum and also as Single, without dependents.

B-17F #42-30398 took off from Massicault, Tunisia on a bombing mission over Turin, Italy, After completing their bombing mission they were hit by ground anti-aircraft fire which damaged the No. 3 engine causing a fire which spread to the tail section. They crash near Genoa, Italy during the war. Parachutes were seen coming from the B-17.

Paul was "Killed In Action" in this crash.

He was awarded the Air Medal with 6 Oak Leaf Clusters and the Purple Heart.

Paul also has a "Cenotaph" in the Braman Cemetery, Braman, Oklahoma.
