"Carolyn Buser . . . With a name like that, I've just gotta be an alcoholic," and she never forgot it. Carolyn had 36 years of continuous sobriety in Alcoholics Anonymous at the time of her death.

There is a crypt with her name on it at Forest Lawn Memorial Park (Glendale), but "Caroline" was cremated and buried at sea by the Neptune Society.

I miss going to the Founders Church of Religious Science in Los Angeles, CA, with her on Wednesday nights.

In the hospital, Caroline was almost comatose and writhing as if in a great deal of discomfort or pain. I sat quietly in her room for over an hour. She awakened momentarily. I went to her bedside, held her hand, and said to her, "Caroline, I'm sorry you have to be so sick."

She looked at me and, with a sharp tongue, said "I'm NOT sick!" Then she was out again. The next morning she was dead.

I believed her that she was not sick. She made a transition into a far greater existence. My life is better for having known her. Thank God for friends.

For you who are reading this, I pray that you find someone in your life who is just like Caroline, someone who will tell you the truth and guide you through your problems, no matter how much it hurts.
