In very poor weather conditions, 1667 HCU's Handley Page Halifax V (#EB192) bomber aircraft, with an aircrew of seven, took off from RAF Sandtoft on a night bombing training flight. In making a turn, EB192 crashed into high ground taking the lives of the entire crew.
The seven airmen who perished in this accident were-
RAAF Flight Sergeant Kevin Kenny ABRAMS,
RAFVR Sergeant Ernest HEATH,
RAF Sergeant Alfred Gordon MONNINGTON,
RAAF Flight Sergeant Allan Benjamin TALBOT,
RAAF Flight Sergeant Wallace THOMPSON,

RAFVR Pilot Officer William WELLS.
