Homer S. Cortright, obituary

Homer S. Cortright, 76, of 1356 Garden Ave., died Monday, Feb. 18, at Allen Memorial Hospital from complications of cancer.

He was born May 9, 1914, in Beaver Township, Butler County, Iowa, son of Edward Earl and Effie Claire Strand Cortright.
Mr. Cortright was employed as a machinist by Deere & Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1974.

Survivors include three daughters, Faye Hutchinson of Marshalltown, Sue Streeter of Ames and Judith Doane of Flagstaff, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a brother, Ken of Waterloo; three sisters, Joyce Poyner of Waterloo, Donna Poyner of Altamonte Springs, Fla., and Carole Horneys of Mount Prospect, Ill.; he was preceded in death by an infant sister.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Locke Funeral Home, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or Northland Hospice of Flagstaff, Ariz.
