Vanessa Gale (Davis) Nimrick Vanessa Gale (Davis) Nimrick, age 47, passed away on February 13, 2010, comfortably at home. She was diagnosed in December with Cruetzfeldt-Jacob Disease, a rare and devastating brain disease. Vanessa, an identical twin, was born April 11, 1962, in Brownwood, Texas, to Betty and C.Q. Davis, Jr. She graduated from Brownwood High School in 1980. She moved to Austin, Texas in 1981. She joined the Travis County Sheriff's Dept as a Corrections Officer in January 1993. On December 24, 1996, she married her best friend, soul mate and love of her life Van Martin Nimrick. She loved going to spontaneous trips with Van. Vanessa loved to read James Patterson, Dean Koontz and Danielle Steele books. She loved Texas Longhorn football and she was a member of the Eastern Star. Vanessa is survived by her husband of 13 years, Van Martin Nimrick of Cedar Creek, Twin sister, Valerie Davis of Cedar Creek, sister, Linda Brunken and husband, Gary of Lampasas and sister, Lisa Deakesand husband, Mike of Austin. She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Davis and father, C.Q. Davis, Jr. Visitation will be held on Monday, Feb. 15 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Marrs-Jones-Newby Funeral Home, Bastrop, TX. Funeral Service will be Tuesday, Feb. 16 at 1:00 p.m. at Marrs-Jones-Newby Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Upper Cedar Creek Cemetery, Cedar Creek, TX. In lieu of flowers donation may be made to the Shriner's Hospital.
