Born in Howard County Arkansas, LTC Forgy served as Battalion Commander of the 2nd Battalion, 121st Infantry Regiment, 8th Infantry Division when he was felled by shrapnel at his Command Post at Saint-Patrice-de-Claids, France. He was a graduate of the University of Arkansas class of 1925 where he was a member of the ROTC program and was a member of the marching band. Was one of 14 University of Arkansas ROTC cadets to participate in training in August of 1922 at Fort Snelling, Minnesota.

Captain Forgy was assigned to Camp Clatsop, Oregon for winter training in 1941.

Major Forgy was in charge of the "escort of honor" for MG Emil Reinhardt at Fort George Gordon Meade, December, 1942. This was when he as assigned as Battalion Commander of the 385th Infantry Regiment, 76th Infantry Division.

LTC Forgy was called to active duty in January of 1941 and served in a variety positions before he landed on Utah Beach 9JUL44. LTC Forgy left behind a wife, a young son and an unborn daughter.
