The company went back to find a lost vehicle where one of the M-8s got stuck on a mission to give relief to the 101st Airborne Division. They came across Germans in San Quinton, France who began firing. Major Gabriel McNair was hit in the face and died quickly. Heavy artillery was called for backup.
