On D-Day+1, Vill went out in the water to look for mines, and was shot by a sniper. He left behind his 24-year-old widow, and a 4-month-old daughter. Although Vill wanted to be cremated when he died, his mother believed that he should be buried among other men who gave their lives to liberate France
