Born on Guest River in Wise, Va. son of James & Peggy Roberts, Great Grandson of Raleigh D. & Rachel Roberts.

Served in the 3 CCC's, US Army from 1942-1946. Married Nettie Mae Bolling Roberts in 1942. Had one surviving Daughter.

Worked as a Coal Miner in Ky. & Va. was a member of the UMWA Local Union in Ky. As a young man he worked for the Division of Forestry in VA.

He was known as "Curtis" all his life. Received many metals while serving in the service for his excellent markmanship. Served for a short period of time in the US Army Hospital while in Germany.

Curtis loved hunting, fishing, was an excellent horseshoe player, played the banjo.

He was a very quite man who worked everyday in the coal mines, never missing a day of work in order to provide for his family.

Curtis moved to Florida in 1972, died in 1987 from Cancer of the lungs. His one surviving child resides in Florida, also one surving Grandson, two Great Grandchildren. Following him in death, 2000, was Ronnie Dale Rice Grandson, Nettie Mae Roberts, beloved spouse in 2001.
