Having actually gone "Missing" on the above date, he was not officially declared by the military as being dead until September 10, 1943, 1 year and 1 day after he went missing as was the custom.

Albert served as a Yeoman Third Class, U.S.S. Muskeget (AG-48), U.S. Coast Guard during World War II.

He resided in New York City, New York prior to the war.

The U.S.S. Muskeget, a weather ship en route from Boston to Iceland on a weather patrol, was sunk by 3 torpedoes fired by German Submarine U-755 about 425 miles northeast of St. John’s, Newfoundland. All men on board were lost: "9" officers, "111" crew members, "1" Public Health Service officer and "4" civilian US Weather Service employees.

Albert was declared "Missing In Action" in this sinking during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.
