Perry served as a Second Lieutenant & Bombardier / Navigator on B-25D #41-29906, 490th Bomber Squadron, 341st Bomber Group, Medium, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Los Angeles County, California prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on December 8, 1941, the day after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, at Fort MacArthur, San Pedro, California. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Messenger and also as Single, without dependents.

B-25D #41-29906 took off, with a crew of 5 and other B-25's, on a mission over Mt. Victoria, Burma. The group, after a successful strike were attacked by approximately 25 Japanese fighter aircraft as they were returning to base.

B-25D #41-29906 was seen by Capt. Robert D. McCarten to be severely hit and out of control. The entire crew was seen successfully bailing out however they were attacked by the Japanese fighter planes as well. Only one crew member survived the attack and found a British Outpost.

Perry was declared "Missing In Action" on this mission during the war.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
