He, unfortunately, died on the USS HARRIS of wounds received in action on USS COLUMBIA (CL-56) 1-6-45 "Whilst covering landings during Lingayen Gulf invasion on January 6, 1945, (the ship) was struck by a kamikaze and was hit by 2nd kamikaze 3 days later while close to shore."
