LAYTON SERGEANT REPORTED KILLED

Sgt. Myron L. Abbott, 26, son of Leon Abbott of Layton, has been killed in action in the south Pacific theatre while fighting with the United States marine corps, the war department informed his father today.

Sergeant Abbott was a member of the first platoon of marines to land on the Solomon islands in 1942. He was wounded in August, 1942, and again in January, 1943.

A native of Hinckley, he was born March 17, 1917, a son of Leon and Nettie Mae Theobald Abbott. His mother has been dead several years.

Besides his father, survivors include a stepmother and the following brothers and sisters: Maclynne Abbott, army air forces at Douglas, Ga.; Dwight Abbott, coast guard at Bodega, Calif.; Mrs. Nina Sornson and Quentin Abbott, Rochester, Wash.; Mrs. Ruth Lose of Delta; Chancy, Verl, Ladd and George A. Abbott, all of Hinckley, and Mary Lou Abbott of Chico, Calif.
