Mr. and Mrs. A.D. Benash, Memphis, Neb., have been notified by the navy department that their son, Raymond Aaron Benash, died October 23 following an emergency appendix operation. Memphis' first casualty of World War II, Benash was buried at sea. He graduated in 1941 from Ashland High school, where he was prominent in athletics and music. He was a member of the navy choir and quartet and sang on many radio programs.
