Lottie Agnes Dye Bowles, 91, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2001, at her home in the Brewer community after a brief illness. She was born Sept. 9, 1910, in Lee County to Jim and Gladys Nicholson Dye. She was an employee of Woolworth’s for 17 years. Before that, she worked for Deb’s Dollar Store. She was the oldest member of Brewer United Methodist Church. She enjoyed working puzzles, vegetable gardening and baking apple pies. She loved her family and her church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl W. Bowles Sr., on Oct. 25, 1977.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Brewer United Methodist Church with the Rev. Phillip Box officiating. Burial will be in Brewer Cemetery. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty Kelly of Brewer; two sons, James T. Bowles and his wife, Dot, of Brewer, and Carl W. Bowles Jr. and his wife, Beverly, of Caledonia; a sister, Virginia Ward of Brewer; a brother, Arvad Dye of Nettleton; a daughter-in-law, Helga Bowles of Brewer; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Duell Dye, Evis Dye and Johnny Dye.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Bowles, Carl Bowles III, Paul Kelly, Steve Bowles, Andy Kelly, Barry Kelly, Brandon Kelly, Brandon Davis, Scott Bowles, Brad Gore, Moses Ruff, William Bowles, James Thomas Leake, Jacob Bailey and Justin Richardson.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the funeral home on Jefferson Street. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. today.
