H. Wayne Amberson, of Snowflake, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2007.

A viewing will be held at the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Snowflake Stake Center, Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Snowflake Stake Center Friday, Jan. 26 at 2 p.m.

Interment will follow at the Taylor Cemetery.

Wayne Amberson, 79, of Snowflake, died Jan. 20, 2007.

Wayne was born in Phoenix, July 31, 1927 to Horace Melvin and Sarah Verna Amberson. He spent his childhood in southern Arizona. From 1947-1948, Wayne served in the US Navy. From 1950-1952 Wayne served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the North Central States Mission. On May 21, 1955, he was married in the Mesa, Arizona Temple. Wayne taught music in public schools for 25 years.

He lived in Arizona for 48 years. While living in Arizona, he was an Assistant Concert Master for the Flagstaff Symphony. Also, he lived in Burbank, Calif. where he was the Burbank Youth Symphony Concert Master. Wayne loved the gospel of Jesus Christ, has always been active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, played the violin as often as called upon; he loved his family, music and food.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 51 years, Dixie Hatch Amberson; children, Jeffrey Wayne Amberson, Valaree Jo Flake both of Snowflake, Lori Jane Amberson of Sedona, Robert John Amberson of Gilbert, David Hatch Amberson of Layton, Utah, Bruce Aaron Amberson of Millville, Utah; 20 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; sisters Verna Dean Greth of Tucson, Viola Lea Burchum of Canyon Lake, Calif.; and sister-in-law, Joan Amberson of Fallbrook, Calif.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 26 at the Snowflake Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, at 2 p.m. Interment will be at the Taylor Reed Hatch Memorial Cemetery.
