Well Known Citizen of Columbia Dies Suddenly at His Home

S S Alexander, a well known citizen of Columbia and a resident for nearly 30 years, died suddenly at his late residence, 1425 Park Street, yesterday morning. Mr Alexander was stricken ill late Saturday evening, the end coming yesterday morning.

Mr Alexander was about 54 years of age. He was a native of North Carolina but early in life became a resident of South Carolina. He was for a number of years a member of the Columbia police force. More recently he has held a posiotion at the Confederate Infirmary.

He is survived by a wife and one daughter, Miss Annie Lee Alexander. Before her marriage, Mrs Alexander was Miss Anna Bowen.

The funeral services will be held this afternoon at 3 o'clock from the First Baptist Church, the burial following at Elmwood cemetery. The funeral services will be conducted by Rev W C Lindsay, DD, and Rev E O Watson, DD. Mr Alexander was a member of Myrtle Lodge Kinghts of Pythias, and a call is issued to the members of this lodge to attend the funeral this afternoon.

The pallbearers will be: J F Williams, Charles L Kelly, R C Wright, L E Marshall, D B Sloan, E S Saunders, J W R Duncan, S H Broom
