Body of WSC Student, 22, is Recovered From Lake
Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, May 15 - The body of John M. Calvert, 22-year-old Washington State college student, was found today in Wolf Lodge bay, Lake Coeur d'Alene, a month from the day that search for the missing youth got underway here.
Sheriff H. H. Haner said identification was made through papers on the body and that his death was being listed as suicide.
Dr. William T. Wood, coroner, also was called when the body was recovered by Tom Robinson, resident of the Wolf Lodge area, while he was fishing. Search for the youth was started April 15, when officers were advised that Calvert's car had been abandoned near Wolf Lodge bay the previous evening. Later his sport jacket was found at the end of a breakwater fill in the bay.
Dragging operations continued for some time, a diver was used on several occasions and a seaplane made repeated flights over the shallow water in search for the body. Patrols had been maintained since in the area, Sheriff Haner said. The body was found in 30 feet of water, approximately 250 yards from the fill.
Calvert was wearing dark blue trousers and a dark blue sweater, which would hinder detection underwater, he said.
Born in Great Falls
Calvert, son of Mr. and Mrs. George C. Calvert, Great Falls, Mont., was born in Great Falls and was a member of the First Presbyterian church there.
Besides his parents, he is survived by a sister, Mrs. John J. Burke Jr., Helena, Mont.
The body will be sent to Great Falls
