Mr. McConnell was born June 5, 1857, on a farm a few miles south of Springfield. He was the son of the late Andrew B. McConnell, former president of the board of agriculture and former sheriff of Sangamon county.
For many years Mr. McConnell was connected with the Springfield Register as advertising manager, spending almost all his life in this city, with the exception of several years spent at Marshalltown, Ia., as advertising manager for a newspaper in that city. For the last 17 years he had been in the real estate and loan business at Sixth and Washington streets.
The deceased is survived by his wife, Mrs. Adaline McConnell; one daughter, Mrs. Lawrence L. Flinn; two grandchildren, Lawrence Flinn, jr., and Adaline Anne Flinn; one sister, Mrs. W. R. Webster; two brothers, Edward McConnell of this city and A. D. McConnell of Little Rock, Ark.
