Millard County Chronicle Progress. Samuel Lorenzo "Ren" Lyman went home on August 4, 2010 near Delta, Utah. Ren was the 12th child of Dr. Melvin Anderson Lyman and Laura Pearl Bronson Lyman. He was born on October 10, 1967 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Ren was a hard worker, a wonderful brother, a true friend and a devoted father who loved his children. He was a great outdoors man who enjoyed fishing, boating on the Res, and four-wheeling out in the desert with his family and friends. He was an excellent craftsman and was much sought after for his building and remodeling work. It didn't take Ren 8 hours to put in a full day's work. He could get done in two hours what would take a full day for most. He was straightforward and had no pretenses. What you saw was what you got and you knew where you stood. He didn't compromise anything. Ren was very gifted in anything athletic and everything he set his mind to try. He loved playing volleyball, basketball, horseshoes, bowling, and golf. He was on the same men's slow pitch softball team for 25 years. Ren traveled extensively for his sporting adventures and often took home trophies in bowling and softball. He wasn't satisfied with being the best — he always worked to better his best. Ren was a gentle giant who avoided confrontation. If there was a fight, he would break it up. He was dependable — anytime anyone needed something, he was there. He put others first unless they were in competition with him. No one could beat him at pool or darts. He wasn't good at losing — he never lost enough to get good at it. Ren was especially proud of his cooking. His barbecue and homemade salsa were his trademarks. He would say his secret ingredient was that it was made with love. Ren "10-10" has many friends and family who love him and will miss him. He adored his daughters and will always be their great "Daddy-O" forever.

Ren is survived by his daughters: Shaylee Renae, Alyssa Marie, and Brenlee Ann; their mother: Holly Hacking Lyman; and his sisters, brothers, stepsisters and stepbrothers: Kathleen Lyman Bailey (Doug), Sandra Lyman Olsen (Russ), Matthew Mason Lyman (Kayleen), Robin Andrew Lyman (Laurel), Laura "Lollie" Lyman Debenham (Doug), Elizabeth Lyman Reinhard (John), Mary Eleanor Lyman Button (Jeremy), Luke Ammon Lyman, Kim Elizabeth Villani, Kristina Marie Villani Beal (Eric), Richard Paul Villani and John Michael Villani (Betty).

He was preceded in death by his parents: Melvin Anderson Lyman, Laura Pearl Bronson; his stepmother: Paula Marie Lyman; his sisters: Cleo and LaRene Lyman and his brothers: Leon Benjamin Lyman (Lori), Alma Lynn Lyman and Edmund Ray Cornpeach. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 10, at 11 AM, at the Delta LDS Stake Center Chapel. Friends are invited to visit with Ren's family Monday evening at the Delta Stake Center from 7-8 pm, and Tuesday morning prior to services from 9:30-10:40 am. Burial will be in the Delta City Cemetery under direction of Nickle Mortuary.
