"After an illness of several weeks Mrs. J.J. Welch passed away at St. Mary's hospital in McAlester this morning at 6 o' clock. She had resided in Kiowa a number of years, where she was well known. In early life she became a faithful membe of the Church of Christ. Mrs. Welch was a native of Texas, having been born May 29, 1881, in Grayson County, where the town of Gunter now stands. Funeral services will be held from the Presbyterian church in Kiowa Friday afternoon at 2:30, and the body carried to McAlester for interment. Surviving, besides her husband, J.J. Welch, are: Two daughters, Mrs. Viola Roberson, Wilder, Idaho; Mrs. Lenola Webb, Bakersfield, California; two sons, Wilfred Moore, McAlester; and James Moore, Kiowa; one brother, J.J. Hook; and brother in-law, John Ray, both of Kiowa." Newspaper obit December 14, 1944
