Obituary:
Miriam Raulerson Bowen went home peacefully in her sleep to be with the Lord on August 7, 2010, in Tallahassee, Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Rev. J. R. Bowen, with whom she worked tirelessly in the ministry in Georgia both as the wife of a pastor of country churches and as a helpmate during the 25 years that he served as Baptist Missions Director in four associations. If a church did not have a WMU or a nursery program, she would start one at the encouragement of Rev. Bowen; she helped in Vacation Bible School training and in associational youth camps. Her motto always being "she did what she could."

Miriam received the Advanced Mercer Certificate in Christian Education from the Extension department of Mercer University in 1968. She and Rev. Bowen retired to Blackshear, Georgia, and were active members there at First Baptist Church.

For the past 12 years she lived in Tallahassee, Florida, with her daughter, Jerri Haywood, where she stayed active in church, was an avid reader and kept up with the Atlanta Braves. Mrs. Bowen grew up in Pierce County, the daughter of Norwood and Eva Cason Raulerson, with two brothers, Seward and Randall, and two sisters, Etta and Maureen, all deceased.
