Born in Columbia, L. Sidney Bouknight was a son of the late Darling Sidney "Jim" Bouknight and Martha Coogler Bouknight. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, past Sunday School Treasurer, past president of the Richland County Farm Bureau, and operated Bouknight Christmas Trees Business at the State Farmer's Market. He was a retired farmer.

Surviving are his wife, Nellie Mathias Bouknight; son, Marion S. Bouknight of Irmo; sons and daughters-in-law, Charlie "Bill" and Joy Bouknight, and Donald L. and Mary Bouknight, all of Irmo; daughter and son-in-law, Margie B. and Dr. George Ivey Jr. of Yorktown, Va.; none grandchildren; five great grandchildren; sister, Ellie Eleazer of Irmo. He was predeceased by a son, J. Ronald Bouknight; daughter, Helen E. Keever; brother, Dr. Joseph W. Bouknight.
