William Emmett Medlock, 82, Valley Falls, died Saturday at the Jefferson County Memorial Hospital at Winchester where he was admitted March 2.

Mr. Medlock was born Dec. 25, 1892, at Whiting, the son of Edward and Louisa Medlock, and had lived in the Valley Falls community many years.

He taught in rural schools near Valley Falls from 1912 to 1918, and later was a rural letter carrier for 43 years before he retired in 1962.

Mr. Medlock was a member of the Valley Falls First Christian Church, was a 52-year member and past noble grand of the Valley Falls IOOF lodge, and was a member of Rebekah Lodge No. 652 at Valley Falls.

He was past president of the IOOF home board at Manhattan and currently was right supporter to the vice grand of the Valley Falls IOOF lodge. He also was a member of the National Rural Letter Carriers Association.

He and the former Mary Ellen Hull were married June 23, 1913, at Sabetha.

Surviving are Mrs. Medlock of the home; two sons, William H. Medlock, Sacramento, Calif., and George L. Medlock, Topeka; a daughter, Mrs. Helen M. Stockdale, San Antonio, Tex.; a sister, Mrs. Hazel Lutz, Holton, eight grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the First Christian Church in Valley Falls. Burial will be in the Valley Falls Cemetery with IOOF Lodge No. 86 conducting services.
