Mary's parents were J.J. and Margaret (Jackson) Manning. Her death certificate says her father was born in Canada, her mother in Illinois. Mary was born in Sangamon County 9 April 1859 and died in Springfield. She married Robert 1 January 1888 in Sangamon County. Just a week following the death of her daughter Mrs. Bertha Mason, Mrs. Mary Ellen McAlister, Springfield, died suddenly at her home this morning. Death is believed to have been caused from heart trouble.
The funeral rites for Mrs. Mason, who died November 4, were held a week ago today from her mother's home.
Mrs. McAlister is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Emma Beecher, Mrs. Myrtle M. Highfield and Mrs. Lula B. Boehmer; two sons, Roy M. and Bernard F. McAlister; two sisters, Mrs. Ida Bryant and Mrs. Nora Duncan, and four grandchildren.
