SHIPPENSBURG Ernest C. "Jack" Herr, 82, formerly of Shippensburg, died yesterday at Leader Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Chambersburg.

He founded and operated H & R Wood Works Inc. from 1946 until his retirement in 1975; with his brother, Lloyd, developed the Herwen Village area; attended Boonsboro, Md., High School; was a member of Shippensburg Water Authority, Hub City Club and the Shippensburg Discussion Club; and was of a Protestant.

Surviving are his wife, Kathryn Long Herr; a son, John C. of Sinking Spring; a daughter, Jane Eisenhour of Dillsburg; two brothers, John of Boonsboro, Md., and Lloyd of Shippensburg; two sisters, Pearl Itnyre of Funkstown, Md., and Jane Superka, of Hagerstown, Md.; and five grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Viewing will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
