The son of David Frederick Percy and Abigail Woodman. His first wife was Helen J. Cornwell. She died without having any children early in their marriage. He then married Celia M. Gegoux on 28 Dec 1890 at Clayton, Jefferson County, New York, with the Rev. S. M. Wam officiating. Celia was the mother of his children named Raymond Sidney, Elmer O., Grant Claude, Grace C., and Budd George. Some of the family referred to him as Bennie and sometimes he was referred to as Benjamin. In the US census of 1910 and 1920 he was a farm laborer, on the 1930 US census he was shown as a farm laborer on a dairy farm.
