Son of Willis H and Elizabeth Bays Rains. Married Margaret Sarah Ann Jolley on Nov. 2 1884 in DeKalb Co. Alabama. The ceremony was performed by W F Hodgens. Andy and Maggie were among the charter members of Asbury United Methodist Church. They also gave their children proper religious and moral training. He had a broad knowledge of music and enjoyed gospel music. He was a successful farmer, with the entire family working long and hard hours in the fields. After a long day in the fields, the family would weave a yard of cloth at night so that the family would have adequate clothing.
