Sarah Ann Reese Petty, 82, widow of Lewis J. Petty died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Leo Pitcher in Smithfield.

She was born in Benson July 12, 1883, the oldest daughter of Charles A. and Mary A. Reese Reese. She was the oldest grandaughter of Charles and Sarah Reese of Benson.

She received her education in Cache County Schools and lived in Benson, Richmond, Ogden and for a short time to Nevada. For the past 46 years she had resided in Amalga, Utah.

An active member of the LDS Church, she had been president of the Primary, YWMIA and Relief Society. She was active in the Farm Bureau Auxilliary, served as president in Amalga and was president of the Cache County Chapter and served as vice chairman of the State Farm Bureau for nine years. She was awarded the Distinguished Service Award in 1951. She was a member of the Ballard Camp of Daughters of Utah Pioneers.

She married Mr. Petty on January 21, 1903 in Logan. He died May 28, 1965. Surviving are two sons and four daughters; Lewis James Petty Jr. Mrs. William (Fawn) Curry, both of Sparks, Nevada; William Reese Petty, Dunsmuir, Calif.; Mrs. Ralph (Jane) Bingham, Amalga; Mrs. Leo (Marie) Pitcher, Smithfield; Mrs. John (Annabelle) Bugger, Ogden; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two brothers and a sister. George W. Reese, Amalga; Parley A. Reese, Benson; and Mrs. George (Gladys) McCann, Salt Lake City.
