Mr. Day was an active member of Central Baptist Church, where he served as an officer, American Legion Argonne Post 180, where he was a past commander, and Civitan Club.
He was a senior vice president at First National Bank and retired from Bank of the West after 46 years of service. He had been a Great Bend resident since 1954, coming from Stillwater, Okla. He was a United States Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Michael Day and wife Joan of Pratt; daughter, Pamela Jackson and husband Edd of Great Bend; brother, Arthur Day and wife Pauline of Glendale, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Chris Short and wife Jennifer of Andover, Daylin Short and wife Kelly of Firestone, Colo., Jeff Jackson of Eureka, Amanda Day of Derby and Shanda Day of Wichita; seven great-grandchildren, Matthew Short, Christiane Grace Short, J.T. Short, Claire Short, Halle Short, Elly Krieger and Conner Krieger; and a cousin, Mary Wade of Great Bend.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Central Baptist Church, with the Rev. John Grummon and Pastor Dale Stanley, officiants. Interment will be at the Great Bend Cemetery, with military honors conducted by a Fort Riley Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
