Catherine's father purchased land in Livingston County, Michigan in 1863, and the family was living there until about 1870 when they relocated to Onondaga, Ingham County, Michigan. Her father was a farmer in both NY and Michigan.
Catherine married William Henry Packard of Lansing as his 2nd wife at Onondaga, Ingham, Michigan 18 Dec 1872. They raised seven children and remained in the Lansing area for their entire lives. William Henry was the proprietor of the Everett House Hotel in Lansing as well as a farmer. It appears that the family split their time between the hotel and a farm in Windsor township.
Her cause of death was cancer. After she passed away, Henry Rushmore Packard, her oldest living child, was appointed guardian of the estates of George, Robert, Albert, and Jennie.
Catherine J. (Rushmore) Packard is buried in Section 2 of the cemetery with her parents, Henry and Harriet Wiborn Rushmore. Their three individual tombstones are very sunken and almost illegible, but there is a Rushmore monument for them that is in good condition.
She was the mother of seven children, all linked below.
