Date: Friday August 18, 1916

Grandpa Ross died Thursday evening at 8:30 p.m. at his home two miles south of Dacoma after a lingering illness of many years.

Funeral was held Friday afternoon at four o'clock at the Holiness church west of Dacoma interment at the Walker Cemetery. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Smith assisted by Rev. Raudebaugh.

Andrew Jackson Ross was born in Virginia January 30th 1833 and died August 10, 1916 age 83 years 6 months 11 days.

He was married to Lydia E. Tudor January 11, 1854.

To this union were born ten children two having died in infancy.

He leaves to mourn his loss a wife and eight children as follows: Martha Harbaugh, Sullivan Ind., Ema Ramsey, Rogers Ark., Will Ross, Colorado Springs Colo., Viney Vore, Dacoma, Okla., Dave Ross, Pea Ridge Ark., Clara Keeney, Butte Mont., and Perry and Walter Ross of Dacoma. He also leaves 31 grandchildren and 8 great grand children and host of other relatives and friends.

We wish to thank our friends and neighbors for their kindness during the illness and death of our husband and father. Mrs Lydia Ross and Children.

Andrew moved to Indiana and married Lydia Elizabeth Tudor on January 11, 1854. She was the daughter of John Bloomer and Mary Y. Epperson Tudor.

On December 20, 1861 he enlisted in Company K, 2nd Regiment Indiana Cavalry. He was discharged on October 4, 1864.

The family continued to live in Indiana until about 1884 when they moved to Haskell County, Kansas.

In 1887 they moved to Colorado and then in the summer of 1894 they settled in Woods County, Oklahoma.

They had ten children: Martha Jane Harbaugh, Samuel H. Ross, Mary Chambers Ross, Emma Etta Ramsey, George William Ross, Melvina (Vina) Elizabeth Vore, David Western Ross, Clara Effie Forbes, Larkin Perry Ross, and Walter Weaver Ross.

Andrew received a pension #251.707 for his service during the Civil War. Lydia received a widow's pension #828.403.
