SHREVEPORT, LA – Services for Roy Anthony Cascio, 79, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 20, 2000 at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Officiating will be Rev. Charles Glorioso, pastor of St. Pius X Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the 12th District, Dept. of LA Veterans of Foreign Wars – Honor Guard.

Visitation will be 4 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 19, 2000 at Rose-Neath's Marshall Street Chapel, with a Vigil and Rosary to follow at 6 p.m.

Mr. Cascio died Friday, March 17, 2000. He was born November 5, 1920 and was a native and life-long resident of Shreveport. Mr. Cascio was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. He was a member and Past Commander of the American Legion, Post #14. Mr. Cascio was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #588 and Military Order of Cootie Pup Tent #6, Past Commander of V.F.W. Post #2238, and a member of the 40 and 8 Voiture #137. He was also a charter member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Chapter #1622 and the American Postal Workers Union. Mr. Cascio retired from the U.S. Postal Service with 32 years and 10 months of service.

Mr. Cascio was a WW II Veteran, serving in the U.S. Army from August 14, 1940 to October 19, 1945. He served in Europe during the Ardennes, Rhineland and Central European Campaigns, with the 76th and 30th Infantry Divisions. He received six medals, plus Presidential Unit Citation, three Battle Stars and qualified as an expert rifleman.

Mr. Cascio was preceded in death by his first wife, Concetta Cangelosi Cascio.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Tena Cascio; daughters, Mary Grape and husband, Ed, Elizabeth Martin and husband, Dale, Rosalind Norenberg and husband, Chuck, Patricia Cascio, Antoinette Cutright and husband, Charles and Theresa Cascio Monroe; sisters, Grace Collins and Rose Malarcher and husband, Charles; grandchildren, Jeannie Dimas, Karen Owens, Tony Grape, Teri Stier, Jennifer Stokely, Lisa Martin, Michael Norenberg, Chris Martin, Concetta Curtis, Cami Norenberg and Melissa Monroe; 11 great grandchildren and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Ed Grape, Chuck Norenberg, Charles Cutright, Tony Grape, Michael Norenberg, Tom Stier, Michael Van den Boom and Larry Craig. Honorary pallbearers will be Pete Van den Boom and Jimmy Brown.

The family suggests that memorials be made to St. Jude's Research Hospital, Memphis, TN 38101.
