Info. from some great detective work by FAG member Cherie Officer. The NY census 1905 for Glen Acre and stepdaughter, showed Grace's name as Nevins, Glen's obit. shows maiden name as Slater. Her first marriage was to a Nevins, and she had a daughter, Ethel Nevins. Then Grace married Glen Acre. Ethel married Raymond Warren. Next to Grace are John W. Slater, Charles O. Slater and "Little Arthur". John was her father, Charles may have been a brother and Little Arthur a son or brother? Cherie has also found her obit since above info. was done. Obit. is in The McKean County (Smethport,PA) Democrat, August 29, 1963 Page 3. Grace E. Acre, Widow of Glenn V. Acre of 119 1/2 Irving St., Olean, NY., passed away last Sunday (August 26, 1963) after a long Illness. She was born Feb. 5, 1875 in Portville, NY and was the daughter of John W. and Mary Jane (Swarts) Slater, former residents of Portville. She was a member of St Stephen's Episcopal Church of Olean, a past president of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a member of the Woman Benefit Association. Surviving at the time of her death were three grandchildren, Mrs. Mark Johnson and Mrs. Richard Monroe, both of Portville, and Mrs. France Lilley of Rixford, PA: 8 Greatgrandchildren and 4 Great-Great Grandchildren along with a step brother, Clifford Sutton, of Eldred, PA. Funeral was held Tuesday (August 28, 1963) at the Guenther-Morton Funeral Home in Portville. Stone shows date of birth 1876, Obit. states 1875. Also note that the obit. for Mary Jane Sutton (buried here also) shows her daughter as Mrs. Glenn Acre. Was Mary Jane Married to a Slater when she had Grace and then married Vernon L. Sutton? Another thought: Her father may have been, Wesley J. Slater, per Bessie Ella (Slater) Milliken's(#100484997) Obit.
