Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, August 13th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Milbank. Father Ken Lulf will officiate and burial will be in the St. Lawrence Cemetery.
Visitation will be at St. Lawrence Catholic Church on Thursday beginning at 6 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church Friday morning, one hour prior to the Mass.
Casket bearers will be: Jon Anderson, Steve Hirsch, Tom Berens, Bob Berens, and Bob Spanton.Military honors will be provided by the American Legion, Birch-Miller Post #9 and the VFW Grant County Post #3486.
Gerald "JB" Berens was born July 25, 1939, in Milbank, SD. He was the son of John and Rosella Berens. Following high school, Jerry joined the service as a corpman in the United States Navy and served in the Marines. JB's passion in life was entertaining but his profession in life was running various clubs. He ran the Korner Inn in the early 1960's. In the 70's he owned and performed with his band at the Town House. In the 80's he moved to Colorado and then returned to Corona, SD in 1998, where he owned and operated JB's Bar and Grill. One of his most memorable performances was his tribute to Elvis in 1978.
Jerry is survived by his children: LuAnn Wisdom, Pam and husband Steve Hirsch, Steven and wife Stacee Berens, Linda Berens, and Debbie and husband Jon Anderson; his life companion Kay Brown; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; one sister: Rita Ferri and two brothers: Richard and David Berens.
He was preceded in death by his parents: John and Rosella; two sisters: Beverly Boerger-Schuhle and Phyllis Spanton;one brother: John (Jack) Berens; one grandson: Jeriad Wisdom.
