Sanford Worthington Faulkner was born August 8, 1859, and died February 25, 1888. He was a commercial broker on South Water Street, Chicago, who saw in the near future a lucrative and extensive business resulting from his industry and business integrity. He was prominent in social circles and had rare social qualities. In October, 1885, Mr. Faulkner joined his cousin, Captain David Faulkner of Londonderry, Nova Scotia, in a sailing voyage around the world. His return after thirteen months was shortly followed by his death from pleural-pneumonia. That he was greatly beloved by all his friends and associates was attested by the large number of those in attendance at the funeral held from his parents' home, 27 Oakwood Boulevard, and during which time all business in the South Water Street district was suspended. As an only son and brother, his loss was keenly felt by his family and his mother never recovered from the effects of his death. he was buried in Oakwood Cemetery in the family plot where others of the family now rest.

Born to Samuel Faulker and Cornelia Everts Smith. They had 11 children, Sanford was their only son. His siblings were
Emma Louisa Chapman (1858-1950)
Lucretica Bishop Perry (1861-????)
Sarah Fletcher Chandler (1862-1935)
