Mary Ann Kurenda Abdala, 43, of Coatesville, passed away Monday, Sept. 8, 2008, at Brandywine Hospital after a courageous, 11-year battle with lupus.
Her loving family was by her side to the end.
Born in Coatesville, she was the loving daughter of John Kurenda of Coatesville and the late Helen Marie Hudock Kurenda, who died in 2007.
She was the fiancee of Greg Dero of Coatesville.
She was a member of St. Cecilia Church.
She graduated from Bishop Shanahan High School, West Chester, in 1982.
She was employed for a few years at AT&T then Krapf Bus Co. until she was diagnosed with lupus.
In addition to her father and fiance, she is survived by her most adored and precious daughter, Jacolyn Abdala; brothers, Michael Kurenda and his wife, Wendy, of Coatesville, and John Kurenda and his friend, Barb, of Denver, Pa.; sister, Lisa Fischer and her husband, Drew, of Coatesville; nephews, AJ, Josh and Tyler Fischer, and Eric, Matt and Peter Kurenda, who loved her very much and whom she spoiled and allowed to do whatever they wanted; nephew, Ryan Wolfe; niece, Caitlin Wolfe; and great-niece, Amira Fischer, whom she adored and loved to spoil rotten; she was known to all her nieces and nephews as "Mimi"; also many aunts, uncles and cousins; and especially Cioci Mary Ann Hudock of Coatesville.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, Sept. 11, at 10 a.m. at St. Cecilia Church, Sixth Avenue and East Chestnut Street, Coatesville.
Family and friends may call Wednesday, Sept. 10, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wentz Funeral Home, 342 E. Chestnut St., Coatesville, 610-384-0318, and Thursday, Sept. 11, beginning at 9 a.m. at St. Cecilia Church.
Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery.
