Saturday afternoon at two o'clock, funeral services were conducted at the Methodist Church by Rev. E.N. Littrell for Clarence Bassett, 39, who was killed while picking corn on his farm last Tuesday, October 20.
Mrs. Don Smith and Evelyn Fosbury sang during the services, accompanied by Mrs. G.H. Johnson at the piano.
Pallbearers were Alva Chrisp, Loren White, R.V. Wall, Lewis Nansel, Carl Roos and Wm. Samll, and interment was in the Arnold cemetery.
Clarence Bassett, son of Joseph E. and Malora Belle Bassett, was born at Pine Canyon near Arnold, Nebraska, on April 28, 1903. His entire life was spent in this territory.
Early in life, Mr. Bassett developed a keen interest in the development and advancement of good farming. He worked with his father on his farm in Pine Canyon until 1925, then moved to the farm that has since been his home.
On February 23, 1927, he was united in marriage to Verel McCandless, and to this unoin one son, Gary Joe, was born.
Besides his wife and son, he is surived by his father; four brothers, J.I. and Percy Bassett, both of Arnold, Charles E. Bassett of Lexington, and Roy Bassett of Burley, Idaho.
Out of town people attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Joe Pocenka of Toledo, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Bassett of Burley ,Idaho, Mrs. Glenn Piper and daughters of Portland, Oregon, Mrs. Kenneth Daily of Lynnwood, California, Mrs. and Mrs. Glenn Denney and daughers of Leadville, Colorado, Mr. and Mrs. Jess Bassett, Charles Bassett and Glenn Bassett of Paxton, Rev. and Mrs. J.E. Troyer and daughers of Westerville, and Mr.s Mabel Peterson, Mrs. Betty Kennedy, and Mrs. Clyde Applegarth of Wiessert.
