Lieutenant R. R. Lyon of Jackson Barracks authorized the publication of the 374 men who were chosen from more than 1200 applicants to attend Second Officers' Training Camp at Leon Springs, Texas. The men were ordered to begin training August 10, 1917

DISEASE TAKES 3 NEW ORLEANS BOYS
Casualty lists issued by the War Department Saturday contained the names of three Orleanians who were reported to have died of disease. Among them is Lieutenant Lawrence E. Brogan, son of the late Captain John Brogan and Mrs. Brogan, 6033 St. Charles Avenue. Lieutenant Brogan was a native of this city and a graduate of Louisiana State University. He was attached to the Field Artillery with the 92nd Division. Besides his mother, two brothers survive. John and William Brogan and two sisters, the Misses Lillian and Theodora Brogan.
