Waynesville, Gary Richard Greene, age 45, of 119 Belair Drive, passed away on Tuesday, August 10, 2010.
A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of Kenneth Earl Greene, Sr. and Minnie Easter Greene. He was employed at Davis Trailer, Inc. for the past five years. Gary most importantly loved his family and enjoyed hunting in Georgia and fishing throughout the mountains of North Carolina. He attended Jonathan Valley Wesleyan Church.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 26 years, Caroline Greene; two sons, Jonathan R. and Michael E. Greene, both of Waynesville; one sister, Elaine Ross and husband, Steven, of Waynesville; one brother, Kenneth E. Greene, Jr. of Waynesville; mother-in-law, Toni LaPierre and her husband, George; father-in-law, Keith Godshalk, and his wife, Mary Jo; sister-in-laws, Rosemary Hanson and Susan Nielsen and her husband, Dane, brother in-law, Doug Eubank, and wife, Tammi, a very special aunt, Barbara Allison; a special niece, Allison Chase; nephews, Phillip Ross and his wife, Beth, and Mark Ross and his wife, Kayla; as well as several other nieces and nephews, and great nieces.
Funeral services will be held in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 14, 2010 with Reverend Josh Tietje and Reverend Robert Rose officiating. Burial will follow at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael McCall, Mike Swanger, Danny McElroy and Phillip, Mark, and Dan Ross. Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Evans and Max Allison. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral home.
