Hilding graduated from Santa Barbara High School in 1935.
In 1941 he enlisted in the United States Navy and served during WWII.
He worked at GTE for 40 years, where he was introduced to his future wife Mary Elizabeth Knox.
Hilding and Mary Elizabeth were married in February of 1948.
Mr. Hatland is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth (Knox) Hatland, daughter, Mary Ann (Hatland) Bittle, son, George Hatland.
